Come out and support Springfield’s role in establishing the legendary Route 66 at the annual Birthplace of Route 66 Festival, which will be held on August 8 & 9 at Park Central Square. Free for anyone who’d like to attend, this special event will pay tribute to the West Central neighborhood’s impact on Route 66 and generate funds in order to restore the portion of Route 66 that runs through the neighborhood. Throughout the two-day festival, there will be a wide array of activities inspired by the historic route to participate in, including a vintage car show, displaying some of the earliest cars to cruise down the famous roadway. Join in on all of the excitement on August 8 & 9 and help bring the birthplace of Route 66 back to life!
